1. From the Start menu, select the Mail app.
Note: If you are adding an email account to the app for the first time, a Welcome page
displays. Click “Get Started” and then “Add Account”. Otherwise, proceed to Step 3.
2. Complete the following steps.
a. Click the Settings icon.
b. Click “Manage Accounts”.
c. Click “Add Account”.
3. Click “Advanced Setup” (scroll to the bottom of the list) and then “Internet email”.
4. Complete the following steps.
a. In the Email address field, enter your full Cox.net email address (for example,
b. In the User name field, enter your Cox User ID, without the @cox.net.
c. In the Password field, enter your Cox Password.
d. In the Account name field, enter a nickname for your email account (for example
Jim’s Cox email).
e. In the Your name field, enter the name to display when sending messages (for
example Jane and John Doe).
f. In the Incoming email server field, enter imap.cox.net. See Email Server Names
for details and other options.
g. In the Account type field, select IMAP4 to match the incoming email server
name. See Email Server Names for details and other options.
h. In the Outgoing (SMTP) email server field, enter smtp.cox.net . For more info,
see Email Server Names for details and other options.
i. Check the box next to the following options.
i. Outgoing server requires authentication
ii. Use the same user name and password for sending email
iii. Require SSL for incoming email
iv. Require SSL for outgoing email
5. Click Sign-in and then Done.
