Your coworkers may look at you funny, but performing a few sets of simple body weight strength training exercises can really add up. Try doing 15 repetitions each of squats, chair dips, reverse lunges, and push ups (you can modify them to do at your desk by simply pushing up from the edge of your desk, rather than getting down on the floor), three times during your work day. Multi-Tasking. When you're in the gym, you can't watch the kids, watch the stove, or do other things. There are now treadmill desks in classrooms

Chimpanzees cover on average 5km a day foraging for food, and are not best equipped to walk. Hunter gatherer tribesmen cover 8-16km a day. In comparison, a sedentary person walks about 2-3km a day.

One time when my older daughter was about 4, I was working extremely hard to meet a deadline and not paying as much attention to her as I should have been. She came into my office and kept telling me about all of the beautiful "butterflies" with which she had decorated her room. I figured maybe she had drawn them. Walking into her room, I could not believe my eyes. She had taken a box of maxi-pads and opened up every single one of them and stuck them to her walls. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Crackers If u're int crackers, get the whole grain/low carb ones. I like Akmaks. Thin slices of cheese as tppings r good, but nut butters r even better.
Remember too that doing some light exercises while working would be good to do. You can incorporate little things throughout your day. For instance, if you're on the phone and can't do anything else anyway, why not move around, pace, or even dance a little bit. You could take a quick break to do a few situps or pushups. Instead of instant messaging or emailing a co-worker, walk over to their desk. After all, it's nice to chat face-to-face and many of us are losing the art of talking to people IRL (in real life); if you can get healthy while improving your workplace, then you can kill two birds with one stone!
Basically, already in the 1700s a doctor had made the relationship between sitting/ being inactive and overall health. It went largely ignored until 1950, when another doctor did a health study of bus drivers vs bus ticket sellers and of delivery postmen vs postal clerks.
Back to the 10000 steps a day. When asked to limit their steps from 10,000 steps to 4500 a day, a study group also developed signs of insulin resistance.
